I believe everyone should have access to beautiful, handmade art. Each piece is made by hand by first creating a continuous line drawing. This means that I don’t lift my pen up off the page when I am designing my illustration. For my wire work, I then have to follow the same path I took with the pen, only using a thin piece of wire. All pieces are hand drawn with a calligraphy pen, or hand sculpted from wire by me. Although designs may be made more than once, the pieces take on a life of their own, as I am never quite able to make is exactly the same each time.
My artworks are all inspired by our very own west coast of Canada and everyday moment. Whether it be watching a couple holding hands as they pass you in the street, or seeing a deer in your very own backyard, little moments create a lasting impact on us. I use these moments and a simple, minimalistic design to create art that works in any home.
As an educator and practicing artist, I understand the importance of a creative outlet. Having struggled with anxiety throughout my adult life, I see the value that creating brings to lives of many. Art offers a safe haven to the lives of young adults. Creating art allows us as artists to hit the pause button on life, see beauty in the world, and offers a sense of calm that is unrivaled.
The act of creating something to be proud of from raw materials is something that has always brought joy to me. My artworks are all inspired by everyday moments. Whether it be watching a couple holding hands as they pass you in the street, or seeing a deer in your very own backyard, little moments create a lasting impact on us
Through my simple drawings and wire art designs, I draw attention to the everyday world that we live in. Through my artwork, I hope to share a little piece of my joy with others through my art.
